Chelsea could hijack Arsenal’s move to sign Mykhailo Mudryk

According to the Guardian, Chelsea could hijack Arsenal’s move to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who was also a Brentford target last summer.

In the latest update on the Gunners’ bid to sign the tricky winger, Shakhtar have already rejected the first offer as they are holding out for the asking price of £85m.

Now, Chelsea are also interested in the player as they aim to bolster their forward line in the coming transfer windows. They have already done a part of that by signing David Datro Fofana now and agreeing on a deal to get Christopher Nkunku in the summer.

Mudryk, the 21-year-old has been one of the best young players in the last year or so. Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto di Zerbi has claimed that the youngster will win a Ballon d’Or in the future.

The Ukraine international has been excellent for Shakhtar in the league and the Champions League this season, that too in difficult circumstances with a war situation in his country.

He has scored 10 goals and assisted eight in 18 appearances in all competitions this campaign. A right-footed winger, Mudryk prefers to operate on the left to cut inside on his right. He can play in other forward positions, but the left side is his go-to area.

With what we have seen of him recently, it is clear that the 21-year-old is not just a tricky winger, but a producer of the final product in and around the opposition penalty box.

More Chelsea News:

Chelsea have struggled from any corner of their forward line this season. Adding the pace and trickery of Mudryk, along with a goal and assist-making prowess, we would have a different dimension to our attack. So, if possible, the club should give it a try in making the Ukrainian come to play for us.
