Chelsea handed two month timeframe to sign World Cup winning La Liga star on the cheap

Transfer News: Chelsea offered a chance to sign Ousmane Dembele for a cut-fee price

Chelsea have a chance to sign Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele for a cut-fee price, according to Marca (h/t Express). The French international recently extended his contract at Camp Nou during the summer.

The Blues were interested in the 25-year-old during the summer and now could have the chance to sign him. It is understood that the winger will have a release clause of £43 million between June and July before his release clause doubles from the start of August.

It is also believed that the Spanish club want to avoid losing the winger for such a cut-fee price and are preparing to open talks with the Frenchman to extend his contract further. Dembele sees his current contract expire in 2024.

Dembele was pursued by the Catalan giants to stay at the club during the summer. Since then, he has been a regular for Xavi. The 25-year-old has featured in all 20 games for the club in all competitions, scoring five and assisting another seven.

Chelsea added two forwards- Raheem Sterling and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to their squad this summer. While the two have had their moments, there is still a feeling that the Blues lack quality up front.

Meanwhile, Dembele has been showing signs of the player that was once dubbed to be one of the brightest young talents in the world of football. Adding the Frenchman to the Blues squad would without a doubt help in increasing their chances in the final third.

It remains to be seen if the Blues do make a move for Dembele in January. The 25-year-old will likely feature for his country at the World Cup and decent performances there could entice the west London club to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
