According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Express), Barcelona are interested in the Chelsea duo of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante and could make a move for both or either in January.
The Catalonia giants have struggled in Europe this season, with the five-time champions now relegated to the Europa League for a second consecutive season.
Still, the La Liga giants will enter the market in three months’ time to sign two more players and have identified a whopping 19 potential targets to choose from.
Chelsea duo of Jorginho and Kante are also believed to be the names on the list. Both midfielders see their contracts expire next summer and it is not surprising to see clubs circling around the pair.
The Italian has been crucial for Graham Potter this season. The 30-year-old has played in all 16 games so far in all competitions this season and has been one of our best players so far.
Kante meanwhile has not featured for the club since picking up a hamstring injury during a 2-2 draw at home against Tottenham Hotspur in August. While he has been on the sidelines, the 31-year-old is still an important player for the west London club.
Both the midfielders have been offered new terms, but both have rejected them. Jorginho wants a pay rise, while negotiations with Kante stalled after the Frenchman wanted a long-term agreement. However, both players would prefer to stay at the Bridge rather than look for new clubs.
Barcelona and Chelsea share good relations when it comes to transfers. Both clubs have seen players move across the two cities over the years, including this summer. It remains to be seen if either of the midfielders also joins the list in January.
