Thomas Tuchel open to take England job after rejecting two Premier League clubs

According to the Telegraph (Subscription Required), former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is open to taking up the England job after rejecting offers from two Premier League clubs since his departure from Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel was relieved of his duties by the Blues on September 7, a day after the team lost their opening Champions League of the season to Dinamo Zagreb.

The timing of the sack was surprising to everyone because it was only a week after the deadline of the summer transfer window, where the German played a major role in identifying players required for the squad due to the club having no sporting director at the time.

Since then, the former Borussia Dortmund boss has rejected an offer from German side Bayer Leverkusen, two from unnamed Premier League clubs and one from Spain. He is still weighing up his options.

Due to post-Brexit visa limbo, it was revealed that he has to leave England after 90 days of his sacking, although there hasn’t been much clarification on that yet.

England manager Gareth Southgate’s future is in doubt following a poor Nations League campaign. There are fears that an underwhelming showing in Qatar could see him shown the door.

Thomas Tuchel could be ideal for the England job.

Tuchel is open to taking up the job if offered. The German delivered instant success for Chelsea by winning the Champions League four months after his arrival. He went on to win the Club World Cup and reach two domestic cup finals last season.

So, the German knows a thing or two about managing teams to not just remain competitive for the league games, but win the big moments in cup ties and go all the way in them.

More Chelsea News:

The latter is mostly required in international football. England could do with a manager of Tuchel’s pedigree given his rich CV, which currently they do not have in Southgate. It remains to be seen what happens of the former Middlesbrough manager if England don’t do well at the FIFA Wolrd Cup in Qatar.
