Fabrizio Romano reveals Christopher Nkunku is happy with Chelsea proposal

Writing in his exclusive CaughtOffside column (h/t Football.London), popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku is very happy with the proposal that the Blues have presented to him but a deal is not yet done.

It emerged recently that Chelsea conducted a secret medical with the talented French attacking midfielder which went really well and a deal now needs to be agreed between the two clubs with regards to finances and then the move would officially go through.

A product of the PSG youth academy, Nkunku did not get enough chances to impress at Parc de Princes and eventually made the move to Germany. The 24-year-old joined RB Leipzig from the Ligue 1 giants in 2019 and has since then not looked back.

To say that the French attacker had an excellent season last time around would be an understatement. In 52 matches for the German clubs last season, Nkunku managed to score 35 goals and provide 20 assists across all competitions in what was a truly ridiculous season.

Chelsea are probably trying to get this deal done before other clubs start circling the talented Frenchman. For a player with so much talent, there is a chance that Nkunku will want to move to a top European club, with all due respect to Leipzig and the Blues are not a bad option,

Speaking about the move that seems to be happening between the attacking midfielder and Chelsea, Fabrizio Romano went on to say that the player was happy with the proposal of the club

“Nkunku has had a medical with Chelsea. This doesn’t mean it’s a done deal, the medical took place a few weeks ago, and Chelsea have sent a proposal to the player, which he’s happy with. But with RB Leipzig, there is still work to do on an agreement.”

We still don’t know what system Potter plans to use at Chelsea. In last night’s game against the Eagles, the former Brighton manager seemed to deploy a 4-2-2-2 with two attacking midfielders. In such a system, Nkunku will fit in perfectly and be a solid player for the Blues.

Nkunku seems to have a huge future in the game with a ceiling that is really high. It remains to be seen if he lives up to his potential and if that happens in the Blues shirt.
