Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola has been left surprised by Mason Mount along with Phil Foden and Pedri. All three players have been tipped to have a bright and great future ahead by the forward.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Marca (h/t The Sun), the former Italian international was asked which players had ‘surprised’ him the most in the past two years and this was his answer:
“There are players who have come on very strong. I’m impressed with Chelsea’s Mason Mount and how he’s grown, and I also love Phil Foden. And of the Spaniards, Pedri is one of them, apart from many others.”
It is hardly surprising to see Mount being named as one to have a bright future ahead. The Cobham graduate has for long been tipped to have a successful career.
The 23-year-old climbed through the academy ranks of the west London club and even spent two seasons on loan at Vitesse and Derby County. It was the latter that brought him into the limelight.
After helping Derby reach the playoffs finals in the 2018/19 season, the attacking midfielder has since then become one of the regular players for the Blues. A fan favourite at the Bridge, the 23-year-old has been one of our best players over the years.
Mount has established himself both at the club and national team. He is more than likely to travel for the World Cup next month and could potentially become one of the most important players for the Three Lions in the tournament.
The midfielder is very likely to start the game against AC Milan this Wednesday. Fans will hope for a win while Mount will hope to get on the scoresheet. A win could help the club in the long way as they currently sit at the bottom of their group with one point.
