Chelsea Yeremy Pino and Lorenzo Pellegrini as Mason Mount replacements

Chelsea eyeing transfers for Villarreal’s Yeremy Pino and AS Roman’s Lorenzo Pellegrini

According to the Telegraph (subscription required), Chelsea eye Yeremy Pino and Lorenzo Pellegrini as potential replacements for English star Mason Mount amidst uncertainty about whether the talented attacking midfielder will sign a contract extension with the Blues.

Mason Mount is a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge. He also happens to be a manager favourite at the club with Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and now Graham Potter all showing that they trust the very talented Englishman and giving him an important role in the team.

A product of the famed Cobham academy, Mount is one of the most talented players coming out of the Blues academy in recent years. He has, along with Reece James probably gone on to be the most successful one, especially in a Chelsea shirt.

After impressing out on loan in a stint at Derby County, club legend Lampard decided to place the trust in the 23-year-old in his first season in charge of the Blues and it is fair to say that the fleet-footed playmaker has not disappointed ever since.

Whilst there have been calls that Mount has not started this season on the best of notes, it is more to do with the fact that the Blues have had a poor start to the season than the player himself. This is further evidenced by how influential he has been in the past couple of weeks.

In 11 games for the Blues this season across all competitions, all of which he has started, Mount is yet to find the back off the net but has made three assists. If he continues improving in a similar vein, these numbers are only going to keep skyrocketing.

Mason Mount is yet to renew his contract with the Blues.

Mount has a contract with the Blues until 2024. (transfermarkt). The 23-year-old is yet to pen down a new deal with the club and there have been certain apprehensions that the talks have been dragging on for too long. In case the playmaker does not sign a new deal, then Chelsea are preparing for contingency options.

It seems extremely unlikely that Mount will not extend his contract with the Blues. A player who grew up supporting and playing for the club, the Englishman might not want to go anywhere else, especially when he is given as much importance as he is at Stamford Bridge.

It is only a matter of time before Mount signs a new deal. We need to be patient and get the deal over the line and it is fundamental that we get our blue-eyed boy to commit to his long-term future with us.
