Carney Chukwuemeka labels playing for Chelsea as ‘dream come true’ ahead of the Aston Villa game

Young Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, who supported the Blues growing up, reveals how it is a dream come true for him to play for the West London club (h/t Evening Standard).

The 18-year-old, who made his Chelsea debut last weekend against Wolverhampton Wanderers, arrived at Stamford Bridge from Aston Villa this summer for £20m. European giants Barcelona and AC Milan were also interested in him.

He is currently fighting to get more game time for the first team this season. If not, then a possible loan move to gain experience by playing games could be on the cards for him.

Here’s what the youngster said regarding his feeling about playing for Chelsea (h/t Evening Standard):

“It feels amazing. I’ve dreamed of playing for the club I supported growing up, so for it to happen is a dream come true

“I thank God, all my team-mates, my family and the gaffer for trusting me. The Chelsea fans have been really supporting me since I joined and the reception from them [when I came on against Wolves] gave me a boost.”

With the game against Aston Villa at Villa Park coming up this weekend, Chukwuemeka would be hoping to add to his one appearance for Chelsea against his former club. The West Midlands club wanted to keep hold of him, but could not with an offer coming from the Blues.

The Villa academy product can play both as a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder. He is good on the ball and has that creative spark in his game.

It is heartening to see a player being so open about his feelings for a club. He is still young and has the learnings to do, but motivation wouldn’t be an issue whenever he puts on that blue jersey.

More Chelsea News:

With game time likely to be limited this season, it would be good for Chukwuemeka’s future at Chelsea that he goes on loan to a club that can offer him regular minutes. With more first-team experience under his belt, the 18-year-old has the potential to challenge for a spot in the team in the near future.
