Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka in London to undergo Chelsea medical

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aston Villa for the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka. The 18-year-old is currently in London with his agents to undergo his medical.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, an official announcement will be made later this week to announce Chukwuemeka’s move to the Bridge. The deal for the talented midfielder will possibly go up to £20 million, including add-ons.

Chukwuemeka is a talented prospect with just one year left on his Villa contract. The Claret and Blue have decided to cash in on their youngster this summer.

Having risen through the ranks at Villa, the 18-year-old midfielder has featured 16 times for the senior side. In the previous campaign, the England U19 international featured in 12 Premier League games, making the XI twice.

Chukwuemeka has played in various positions throughout his career. Primarily featuring in the centre of midfield, the 18-year-old has also made appearances in the number six, number 10 and the centre-forward positions.

Chelsea have a bunch of youngsters in the midfield. Conor Gallagher had a good loan spell out at Crystal Palace last season. The 22-year-old was one of the best box-to-box midfielders in the PL last season.

Billy Gilmour is another youngster on our books with a lot of talent at his disposal. While the Scotland international did not have the best of times out on loan at Norwich in the previous campaign, he has shown glimpses of talent in a blue shirt in the past.

Mason Mount may be an established Chelsea player now, but the England international is still 23. The academy youngster has grown over the years and become a vital member of the squad.

What Thomas Tuchel decides to do with Chukwuemeka will be interesting. Whether he stays and plays a part in the first team or is sent out on loan remains to be seen. Hopefully, the 18-year-old will fulfill his potential at the Bridge and becomes a future star.
