“It’s done”- Journo confirms Chelsea have signed Arsenal starlet after failed contract talks

Transfer News: Chelsea are set to sign Arsenal starlet Omari Hutchinson

According to The Secret Scout via Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Chelsea are set to secure the signature of talented Arsenal youngster Omari Hutchinson in the ongoing 2022 summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic before joining the Gunners’ youth setup in 2015. He has since established himself as one of the best players of his age group in the country and could be on the way to have a successful career.

A regular for Arsenal’s youth sides, the midfielder is yet to make his senior bow. He was an unused substitute in the Gunners’ shock 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in last season’s FA Cup. He will now depart The Emirates with a senior cap to his name.

Hutchinson signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in 2020 but recent negotiations regarding a new deal have hit a dead end. Chelsea appears to have jumped in and made their move, effectively landing the 18-year-old.

Hutchinson’s arrival will hand the Blues’ Under 23 side a shot in the arm. They struggled for form last season and only avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth. Reinforcing them will be key as the setup acts as a stepping stone to the club’s first team for Cobham-based talents.

The 18-year-old looked set to leave Arsenal on loan this summer with the likes of Reading interested in his services. With a move to Stamford Bridge now on the horizon, it remains to be seen how the Blues decide to make use of him.

Chelsea have acted quickly to reinforce their youth ranks this season. They have already agreed to sign Zak Sturge from Brighton while Tyler Dibling is also in their sights. With Hutchinson now on board, the Blues can focus their attention on other names on their wishlist.

Hutchinson represented England at the Under 17 and Under 19 levels internationally but was called up for the Jamaican senior side earlier this year. He made his senior bow for the nation in a friendly against Catalonia.
