Chelsea superstar Jorginho insists he would like to stay at Stamford Bridge

Speaking in an interview as quoted by @AdamNewson (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Italian superstar Jorginho has conceded that he would like to stay at Chelsea amidst rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

Jorginho’s future has been subject of constant speculation this summer being linked with a move away from the club considering that his contract expires in 12 months’ time. However, the 30-year-old has been quick to put an end to the speculation.

One of the most talented deep-lying playmakers in the world, Jorginho goes about his business quietly but he is very integral to how Chelsea like to play and often goes underrated. He has been exceptional for the Blues in the past especially in our Champions League winning campaign the season before the last.

Last season was not the best for Jorginho with the talented Italian struggling with his performances both at club level and in the national team. However, at 30, Jorginho is far from finished and still has at least two-three good years left in him.

In 47 games for the Blues last season, Jorginho scored nine goals and provided four assists across all competitions. The number of goals might be slightly misleading considering the fact that most of those goals would have come from the penalty spot.

Speaking about his future with the Blues, Jorginho was of the opinion that he very much desires to stay at Stamford Bridge

“I feel very well here. Of course, I’d like to stay. There is a lot going on and we don’t know. “I am here now, I have contract and I love to be here, I feel very well here. And so, I don’t think about moving anywhere”

If Jorginho wants to stay, then there should be absolutely no doubts for Chelsea to renew the Italian midfielder. He may be 30 but he carries a wealth of experience and he can still do a great job on the field for some more time at least for Chelsea.

More Chelsea News:

It is not easy to replace Jorginho and there is absolutely no need to replace him as long as he wants to stay. Getting a new contract wrapped up must be a priority and let’s hope Chelsea do it very soon.
