Speaking in an interview as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has committed his future to the Serie A club amidst links to Tottenham and Chelsea.
The former Racing club striker joined Inter Milan in 2018 and has since then gone on to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Serie A. The Argentinian striker formed a lethal strike partnership with Romelu Lukaku and has continued to thrive even after the Belgian left.
This season has been exceptional for the 24-year-old yet again as he has played 49 times for Simone Inzhagi’s team scoring 25 goals and providing four assists across all competitions. Martinez has already won 38 caps for Argentina scoring 20 goals for his nation.
Speaking about his future, the Inter Milan striker committed his future to the club despite links to Tottenham and Chelsea recently.
“My plan is clear: I really want to stay at Inter next season. I’ve not received communications from the club as of today, I want to continue at Inter next season”
Anybody who has seen Chelsea play this season will know that they have had issues in front of goal with both their strikers misfiring.
Timo Werner has struggled to adapt to life with the Blues whilst Romelu Lukaku has been a pale shadow of the former beast who played at Inter Milan and both have had very disappointing seasons, to say the least. Their futures at the club are far from certain.
Armando Broja is expected to return from loan at the end of the current campaign and after a very impressive stint at Southampton where he bagged quite a few goals, he is an option to be trusted with a starring role in the first team next season under Thomas Tuchel.
If the Albanian is not trusted with a starring role in the first team, then maybe we could look into the transfer market for a striker for next season. Lautaro Martinez would have been the ideal fit for Chelsea but he seems to be determined to stay on in Italy.
It remains to be seen as to how the Blues sort their defensive conundrum. They could look for a world-class striker who can provide the solution to their goal troubles.
