According to 90min (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have made contact with Everton to enquire about the possibility of a summer move involving Richarlison.
This summer, big teams in England and Europe are showing significant interest in the Everton forward. Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, Arsenal, and Atletico Madrid have emerged as the most serious suitors for the Brazilian, with all four clubs eyeing to splash the cash for his services.
Richarlison has been at Goodison Park since joining from Watford in 2018. The 25-year-old has developed into an important component in the side during his four years on Merseyside. In the 2021/22 season, the attacker was instrumental in the Toffees escaping relegation, scoring 10 goals in 30 Premier League appearances.
Richarlison, on the other hand, may be on his way out this summer in search of brighter opportunities. And there is plenty of interest in the Brazilian international, with many large clubs vying for his services.
Chelsea are believed to have entered the competition as well, having registered a serious transfer attempt for his signature. The Blues recently approached Everton about a summer transfer for the Brazilian international.
This season, Chelsea’s attacking line hasn’t been up to the challenge. Due to the failure of big-name players like Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz to deliver consistent performances, the manager has had to rely on midfielders for goals and assists.
Tammy Abraham was sold last season as was Olivier Giroud. Perhaps Tuchel placed too much faith in Lukaku and that decision has seemingly backfired. Nevertheless, it is too early to get the jury out on the former Manchester United star and we should give him another season at least to prove himself.
Richarlison has made significant progress in recent seasons and, given his Premier League experience, could make an early impact upon his arrival. As our club has made a genuine approach regarding his signing, it remains to be seen if we sign another big-name forward in the third summer window running.
