Transfer News: Juventus keen to sign Chelsea star Christian Pulisic

Transfer News: Juventus are interested in signing off-form Chelsea star Christian Pulisic

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport (h/t Football.London), Juventus are eyeing to secure the signature of Christian Pulisic, who is currently struggling for game time at Chelsea.

Pulisic was unable to produce consistent spells in the ongoing campaign. Scoring 7 goals and four assists in 34 appearances across all conceptions, the USMNT star has failed to make himself the superstar we thought he could become when he joined from Borussia Dortmund. Following his unsuccessful performances, he has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Tuchel.

Juventus are believed to be interested in ending Christian Pulisic’s misery at Chelsea by signing him on a permanent deal in the following summer transfer window.

In a now-deleted tweet, Christian Pulisic’s father recently pointed out the ‘sad’ reality, suggesting that his son is going through a rough phase.

He even added that the next six months are going to be vital for his son’s career. His comments suggest that the player and his family probably aren’t happy with the American star’s lack of game time.

Should Christian Pulisic leave Chelsea?

After the sensational spell in his first season, Pulisic’s form has cooled down. Even though recurring injury issues could be termed as a major reason for such a scenario, he hasn’t had many chances to feature in the first team this term either.

Pulisic’s inability to score goals has only increased Chelsea’s attacking problems but neither has he been played regularly and in a consistent position by Tuchel. As Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are also struggling, the Blues may well have to think of other ways to solve their goal-scoring issues.

Sure, Pulisic may get the club some money if sold given that he is still very young, talented, and has a contract that only expires in 2024. But he is a potent winger on his day capable of ripping defences to shreds. We saw that at Borussia Dortmund and we have seen glimpses of it here.

It is up to the player to prove his worth to the manager. But Tuchel must also give him the opportunities to do so, otherwise his potential could well be wasted on the bench.
