According to Football London, the arrival of new owners could see Chelsea reviving their long-time interest in Bundesliga ace Christopher Nkunku who has been in sensational form this season.
Blues are said to be long-term suitors for the versatile Frenchman. The 24-year-old has set the Bundesliga alight this season with his jaw-dropping performances and it will not be long before the talented attacker leaves Leipzig.
An attacking midfielder, who can play further up as a second striker or a false 9, Nkunku is having a breakout season with the Bundesliga club. He has produced astounding numbers scoring 30 times and assisting a further 20 in 45 games this season.
Despite this, the Frenchman has been going under the radar for someone who has so many goal contributions but the clubs around Europe have surely taken notice. The former PSG youth player is making heads turn around the footballing world and Chelsea are no different.
With the prospect of new owners coming to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea could be set to revive their interest in one of the hottest prospects in Europe right now. They will have to convince Leipzig to part ways with their prized asset though, which might not be an easy task.
Nineteen years under Roman Abramovich is finally coming to a close and during this time, the Blues have gotten used to seeing top quality players embrace Stamford Bridge.
The Russian was never cash-shy, willing to break the bank to bring in top stars and the Blues will be hoping that their new owners will be similar to the oligarch in terms of ambition.
It is expected the new owners would want to make a statement signing to stamp their authority at Stamford Bridge and Christopher Nkunku could just be the answer.
Definitely not coming cheap, with the numbers he is producing, the Frenchman could turn out to be the ideal statement signing for the new owners.
It remains to be seen if Leipzig decides to part ways with Nkunku and if they do, what fee they would be demanding, but considering the kind of output the French forward has been producing, if he comes at the right price, then the Blues must definitely do all in their might to bring the talented attacker to Stamford Bridge.
