Chelsea handed Serge Gnabry boost as contract talks with Bayern Munich are complicated

According to German publication Bild (h/t The Sun), Chelsea are keeping tabs on Serge Gnabry as talks over a contract extension with Bayern Munich are in a complicated stage. This situation could potentially pave the way for the English club to try their cards to sign him at the end of this season.

Gnabry will enter the final year of his current deal with Bayern Munchen, which has prompted them to begin negotiations over a renewal. However, discussions have not been rosy so far as they are yet to reach common ground over an extension. Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Despite the complications, Bayern are confident that an agreement can be reached in the coming months. They believe that the 26-year-old will extend his contract till 2026 or 2027, with the winger also keen on renewing his deal. That being said, things could always take a turn for the Blues’ benefit as terms are not agreed upon just yet.

Does Chelsea have a chance?

The German has been sensational in this campaign as well and has arguably been the Bavarian side’s best winger so far. With 12 goals and nine assists to his name this season from 31 matches across all competitions, it is no wonder why he is highly regarded as one of the best in world football.

Even if he had a difficult spell in England with Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion, the Bundesliga forward has certainly put behind his struggles by reaching new heights in Germany. He could be a fine addition to our team if we take advantage of this contract situation in the future.

According to the German outlet Sky Germany (h/t The Sun), the disagreement is claimed to be over the salary demands made by the former Gunners man. As such, if these circumstances continue moving forward, we could genuinely have a shot at securing his signature next summer.

We would also need to be wary of the other competitors like Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona as they too are in the mix for the German international. All in all, we certainly will not have an easy route in landing the player.

It remains to be seen how the contract negotiations develop in the coming months ahead of the summer transfer window. Let’s hope that the talks completely break down so that we have a great chance of acquiring his signature at the end of the season.
