Transfer Update: Chelsea are preparing an offer for Barcelona midfdielder Gavi

According to Super Deporte (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are preparing their contract offer for Barcelona’s midfield sensation Gavi. The youngster is currently embroiled in contract negotiations with the Catalans.

Aged just 17, he has featured in 19 games for Barcelona this season. The La Masia starlet’s incredible talent has become the talk of the town in recent times as he continues to impress for both club and country.

The Spaniard received his maiden national team call-up for La Roja in October. He has already featured in four games for Luis Enrique’s side. With the World Cup coming up next summer, the stage could be set for Gavi to take his talents to a global audience..

Gavi has given some awe-inspiring performances for Spain.

Chelsea has shown interest in Gavi in recent times. It is believed that the Blues are readying their offer for the youngster’s services.

Barcelona have found themselves in severe financial difficulty amid bad management and the coronavirus pandemic. After losing to Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich, the Catalan team were relgated to the Europa League earlier this week.

Joan Laporta’s board is reluctant to sell a prospect to generate funds. It is believed that the Blaugrana have initiated renewal talks with their academy graduate. Given theit financial state, the Catalans could struggle to bring in a quality repalcement should they part ways with Gavi.

Gavi could be the long term solution to Chelsea midfield problems.

Chelsea were happily going past against tough opponents with the services of Mateo Kovacic in the midfield. However, an injury to the Croatian midfielder has landed Thomas Tuchel in hot water.

On the other hand, Blues’ recent loan deal for Saúl Niguez has no gone as planned. The Spanish midfielder has flattered to deceieve and doe snot appear to have won over the Chelsea management. The possibility of the Blues making his stay at the Bridge permanent looks unlikely.
