Talking to Chelsea.com, Kai Havertz said that he was happy with how the team played during the 1-1 draw against Burnley on Saturday evening but at the same time he said that the Blue were unlucky not to win the match.
Chelsea suffered a small setback in the Premier League title race as Sean Dyche’s men managed to snatch a late equaliser thanks to the strike by substitute Matej Vydra.
European champions completely dominated proceedings throughout the first half but could only manage one goal thanks to the German midfielder, who was playing as a false 9 in absence of injured Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
Reece James delivered an excellent ball across in the 33rd minute, with Havertz latching onto his cross and heading past Burnley’s keeper to give west Londoners the lead but after that Chelsea wasn’t able to convert any other chance throughout the match. And in the end, Burnley scored a late goal to snatch a point.
Talking to Chelsea.com, Havertz said:
“What was missing was some goals. Burnley had one chance, they scored one goal and sometimes that is football, but we could have improved our finishing skills in the game.”
“We had a lot of good chances but we also scored just one goal so we lost two big points for us so of course, it is frustrating.”
Chelsea are three points ahead of Manchester with 11 games played and lead Liverpool by four points, who have a game in hand. After September, this is the first time The Blues have dropped any points in the Premier League but will be going into the international break at the top of the table.
Chelsea will hope that they can get back to winning ways after the international break when they face Leicester City away from home.
