According to Tuttosport, via Sport Witness (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have learned the transfer valuation for AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni. The Frenchman has become one of the most sought after prospects following his performances for the Ligue 1 side.
The 21-year-old is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also play in central midfield if he is asked. He has scored twice from 20 appearances while earning five clean sheets in the process.
The Blues have been told that they would need to shell out €50m (£42m) to get their man from Monaco. The midfielder has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past and continues to be a subject of interest.
The English club may need to take quick action as the Frenchman continues to be excellent at his club. This would further drive up the price and could be more expensive to get his services in the future.
This is without considering the possibility of competition from other clubs for the France international. Manchester United and Real Madrid are some of the clubs that are interested in getting his signature.
Should the West London club decide to not activate the buy option for Saul Niguez, it would free up space in midfield for the defensive midfielder. They also lack the profile of someone with Tchouameni’s qualities and should all they can to land him.
Should the Monaco ace be signed, it could facilitate a situation where Thomas Tuchel could try out different midfield pairings. Tuchel could also be flexible with his systems depending on the circumstance that it asks. With N’Golo Kante not getting any younger, it makes sense to eventually groom one Frenchman to replace the other.
