According to Express, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has provided insights on the type of knee injury N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell suffered during the clash against Juventus.
Chelsea earned an empathic 4-0 victory on Juventus last night, and their performance was a statement of sheer dominance. Even though they had a glorious night with meaningful results, two injury blows to crucial players has concisely shaken the Blues camp.
N’Golo Kante started the match against Juventus and looked sharp in the first quarter of the game. But just after the half-hour mark, he was substituted for Ruben Loftus-Cheek. What apparently looked like a knock obliged the player to go straight down the tunnel. The positive news is that he was able to walk down the tunnel without any help.
Thomas Tuchel pointed out in the post-game interview that Kante twisted his knee, which caused some discomfort, but he isn’t sure about the severity and stated that we have to be patient to get the whole picture.
“Unfortunately, N’Golo [Kante] as well, he twisted his knee a little bit. I can tell you tomorrow morning a little bit more.”
On the other hand, Ben Chilwell went down holding his right knee and required treatment from the medical staff. The English player needed the help of the staff to have retreated from the ground.
The German manager confirmed the discomfort and pain that the former Leicester City player suffered. Chilwell appears to have experienced a sharp jab of pain and it is hopefully not something serious.
“[Chilwell] has a sharp pain in the knee.”
Kante is one of the essential parts of Thomas Tuchel’s tactics. The French player has time and again given controlling performances in the midfield position. He is such a reliable player for the Blues squad that it becomes easy for the players around him. His work rate and tireless running have made him one of the best players in the world.
Ben Chilwell, on the other hand, flourished under the former Paris Saint-German manager this season. His aggressive running in the left channel has helped the team’s attacking intent. He also bagged 2 Premier League goals due to the advance running and shooting abilities on the opponent’s penalty box.
The German manager would indeed feel the absence if he loses the two key players for some games. The severity and length of the injury are yet to be known, and the Blues camp would hope that it doesn’t get any critical at this moment as they are giving consistent high-class performances.
