Real Madrid open to selling Chelsea target Eden Hazard

Talking to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Football.London), Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has opened the door for winger Eden Hazard to leave Santiago Bernabeu amid transfer interest from Chelsea.

Hazard was regarded as one of the world’s finest players when he signed for Real Madrid in June 2019. But since signing for Los Blancos, his career has been ruined by injuries and has failed to show his real talent.

The Belgian playmaker’s situation at Santiago Bernabeu has been something of a source of speculation since joining the 12-time Champions League winner because of his injury struggles and inconsistent form.

The Belgium international has made just seven league appearances this season and is yet to open his account. His only goal in 2021-22 came for his country against the Czech Republic in September.

Ancelotti told Mundo Deportivo (h/t Football.London):

“Never in my coaching career have I forced a player to stay when they want to leave. In my personal opinion, there is no question about that. If a player wants to leave, he will leave. There is not much doubt about this.”

European Champions Chelsea have started the season brilliantly and are sitting at the top of the table in the English Premier League. The former Chelsea attacker shone in his final season at Stamford Bridge in 2018-19 as Chelsea FC finished third before his big-money move that summer.

In his eight years long career with the Blues, he has achieved some incredible feats. The forward has 110 goals in 352 games, making him one of the finest attackers to ever grace the Premier League.

But he may very well be past his prime now. Injuries can take a toll on any player and the Blues have a good thing going in attack with a mixture of experience and youth. It would be a risky move, in all honesty, to add an injury-prone 30-year-old like Hazard to the mix.
