Serie A rivals Inter Milan and Juventus in the race to sign Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rudiger has apparently attracted the attention of Inter Milan, who have entered the race to sign the 28-year-old German defender from Chelsea. Their rivals in Serie A, Juventus have also been scouting the player lately.

According to reports from Italian outlet TMW (h/t football.london), Inter Milan have entered the race to sign the German defender but they face stiff competition from other European giants including Bayern Munich and Juventus.

Rudiger is entering the prime of his career and has been transformed by Thomas Tuchel. Rudiger has improved significantly since the arrival of Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, so much so that he is now regarded as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.

The German defender has less than a year left on this contract at Chelsea and reports also suggest that the club and player are facing difficulties in negotiating an extension because of increased wage demands from the player, while he has better offers from other big European clubs.

He joined Chelsea in the year 2017, on a five year deal from Roma and made a debut for the Blues against Arsenal in the 2017 FA Community Shield. Since then, the German has made a total of 159 appearances for Chelsea and has scored a total of eight goals, providing three assists.

Rudiger started his career for the German club VfB Stuttgart in the year 2011 and stayed there for 4 seasons before making a loan move to Roma in 2015. Following his loan period, the Italian club decide to keep him for the 2016-17 season before he signed a deal with Chelsea.

The 28-year-old also has 47 appearances to his name for his international side. And given his experience and importance to the Blues, losing him next year after already seeing Marc Guehi, Fikayo Tomori, and Kurt Zouma leave would be catastrophic with regards to the future of our defence.
