According to The Daily Star, Chelsea star Jorginho has been seen joking with Italian international Lorenzo Insigne while on international duty.
While it is not news for two teammates to get along, this takes special attention owing to the fact that Insigne is the Blues radar. The 30-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract at Napoli and could be signed for free next summer.
The video uploaded on Instagram shows both players getting along well and in high spirits. Italy take on Spain in their UEFA Nations League semifinal and could be set for a second successive international tournament.
The video also shows another Chelsea star, Emerson Palmieri laughing hysterically as Jorginho uses a face filter that shows them with gigantic noses. It is fair to say that Roberto Mancini’s side are high on morale.
Adding Insigne to the squad would give Thomas Tuchel another ball carrier from midfield. Mason Mount remains the only player in the squad with the same traits as the Azzurri ace.
Chelsea will not have their own way in Insigne’s pursuit. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are also in the fray and could prove to be obstacles in their path.
Despite being 30, Insigne remains a player in his prime. The Azzurri international has scored 111 goals and provided 88 assists in 406 matches for the Italian club across all competitions until now.
The Londoners also let go of a lot of youngsters like Tammy Abraham, Kurt Zouma, and Fikayo Tomori earlier this summer. This has to an extent impacted their strength in reserve. Landing Insigne would give them better options.
A key player for Napoli, Insigne would add versatility and ingenuity to the Chelsea frontline that has at times looked flat. Whether Jorginho is alls et to make an assist for Chelsea by helping them land the Azzurri ace remains to be seen.
