Glen Johnson believes Chelsea could eventually bring back AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham in the future

Speaking via bettingodds.com (h/t The Metro), former Premier League ace Glen Johnson believes Chelsea will eventually bring Tammy Abraham back to Stamford Bridge from AS Roma.

The 23-year-old had a largely successful first season at the West London outfit during Frank Lampard’s first season at the club. However, after the Blues brought in reinforcements last season, the games began to dry up for Abraham, and the striker was eventually let go this summer.

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho swooped in to bring the Englishman to AS Roma, and the centre-forward is providing rich dividends on the club’s £34million investment. The former Blues attacker has provided 6 goal contributions in 10 games and is a huge reason why the Italian club are sitting at the top of the Serie A table.

Glen Johnson has now claimed that the London outfit could eventually bring back their Cobham academy graduate to Stamford Bridge. Johnson told Bettingodds.com (h/t The Metro):

‘He’s (Tammy) scoring goals, enjoying his football again, and he’s got a lot to offer. Chelsea have shown in the past that they are not embarrassed to sign somebody back for a lot more money than they sold them for.

‘If he continues to score goals then I think, yeah, they would be interested. Strikers are hard to come by, aren’t they? As a young Englishman, we’re all brought up to want to play in the Premier League, so I’m sure he will want to come back one day to settle some scores.’

The London club has previously re-signed players they let go, with Romelu Lukaku being an excellent example of it as the Belgian completed his move to Stamford Bridge earlier this summer.

Moreover, with the Blues having included a £68million buy-back clause in his contract, they could consider bringing him back if he continues to excel in Italy.
