Speaking to ESPN Brazil (h/t Football.london), Gabriel Jesus was all praise for Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku. The Manchester City striker revealed his admiration for the big Belgian and felt that Chelsea were a stronger side with him.
Romelu Lukaku left some unfinished business at Chelsea when he left in 2014. He went on to hone his talent at his next few clubs and returned to Stamford Bridge over the summer. Since then, he has wasted no time in hitting the ground running. He has already scored five goals and some of them were valuable strikes in important games.
However, against Manchester City, Lukaku endured one of his more frustrating days in a Chelsea shirt since returning. He was cut out from receiving any proper service as chances came at a premium for Chelsea. However, that has not impacted Gabriel Jesus’ view on the 28-year-old. The City striker scored the only goal of the game and edged it for his side.
Jesus went on to shower quite the praise on Lukaku and was of the opinion that Chelsea were now a stronger side with the latter leading their attack.
“They [Chelsea] were strengthened by the arrival of [Romelu] Lukaku. He’s a player that I really like, a goalscorer, very strong, physically, technically. They have strengthened themselves and come even stronger.”
Not quite the day for Lukaku to shine as Chelsea lost their unbeaten steak to City. Nonetheless, he will have more chances throughout the season to keep getting those goals. Clearly, Jesus has a point that Chelsea are a stronger side with Lukaku. The Belgian has proved that he was worth the effort to bring him back.
