According to a report by The Mirror, Chelsea want to offer Tammy Abraham as a makeweight in a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian striker has caused wreckage in the Bundesliga with his goals ever since he joined the Black and Yellow from RB Salzburg. But the Blues have now made him their transfer priority ahead of Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane.
Haaland, however, is rated at £150million. The Blues, in order to get the price down, want to include Abraham in the deal, who they value at £50million.
Given Abraham’s free fall down the pecking order and the number of years (two) left on his contract, Dortmund view the valuation as excessive.
Abraham is also on the radar of West Ham United and Aston Villa, who want him on a permanent deal. The 23-year-old prefers a move to the latter. However, the interested clubs have been told of Chelsea’s intentions to include Abraham in a deal for Haaland. (h/t The Mirror)
Haaland is a striker that can take the club’s game to a new level next season. Timo Werner only signed for the club last summer, but he was not at his goal-scoring best last season.
The prolific Haaland is a No.9 that can win trophies on his own for a club like Chelsea. On top of that, his inclusion doesn’t even have to mean Werner being isolated from the starting XI.
The German striker can play on the wings, as he did on numerous occasions last season. As for Abraham, it is clear that he is not preferred by Thomas Tuchel considering his omission from the matchday squads for both cup finals in May.
