Chelsea set to open contract talks with Armando Broja

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are all set to open contract talks with teenage star Armando Broja. The Albanian is set to return to Chelsea after his loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem and could be given a chance to impress Thomas Tuchel.

Broja is an academy graduate who has played once for the senior side so far. It was against Everton last year in March. He was handed a professional deal in 2020. The Albanian was sent on loan this season to gain some experience at the Dutch side, which is often a regular place for the Blues to send players on loan.

It has been a successful season for the 19-year-old striker, which benefitted the club as well. He played a pivotal role with his 10 goals and 2 assists in 30 games to push Vitesse up to fourth place. Now, as the season ends, Broja is set to return to Chelsea.

Much has been made of the striker situation at Chelsea. Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud are likely to depart, leaving Timo Werner as the only name on the side. While Chelsea are looking to bring in a big name, it has been said that Broja will be given a chance in the first-team.

While there has been interest from other clubs in Broja, Chelsea are set to offer him a new contract and Tuchel will try to push him into the side. Broja has had a good season with his exploits for Albania also.

More Chelsea News:

It would be fair to Broja that he is given a chance to stake his claim for a place in the side. After all, he has been in good goalscoring form and that should not go unrewarded. Adding Broja to the side will give Tuchel more options. It should lessen the need to sign more than one striker.
