According to transfer news from Mirror, Manchester City have stepped up their efforts in signing Chelsea target Harry Kane. The Manchester club are said to have made an official proposal for Kane with a bid of £100m plus optional player inclusion.
Harry Kane has been the main man for Spurs for a while now. However, after another trophyless season, it seems as if he has reached his boiling point. The striker has asked the club to allow him to leave at the end of this season. He wants to take on a new challenge in his career.
That led to teams such as Chelsea and both Manchester clubs going after Kane, given the striker problems at some of them. The forwards Chelsea have at their disposal come with their own set of problems. . It is a concerning stat that Chelsea’s top scorer in the league last season was Jorginho with only 7 goals.
In the latest development of this saga, it seems as if Man City have taken the first step towards signing Kane. The club have made an opening bid of £100m. The English champions are also said to be open to adding some of their own stars such as Aymeric Laporte, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus as part of the deal. (h/t Mirror)
Chelsea were said to be keeping tabs on the player. The Blues want a striker such as Erling Haaland or Kane. However, there is the feeling that Spurs are unlikely to sell to a rival such as Chelsea. Furthermore, Daniel Levy is not keen on the prospect of letting his star striker leave.
Kane has been consistently among the top goalscorers in the Premier League over the past half a decade or so. A model professional and a leader, the 27-year-old could have been a game-changing signing for Chelsea if a deal could have been struck.
