Cesc Fabregas provides encouragement for Chelsea duo of Werner and Havertz

According to Metro, Cesc Fabregas has come out with some words of encouragement for the Chelsea duo of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. The former Chelsea midfielder hopes that the German pair will be back to their best after a testing debut season for the Blues.

The Blues paid a fortune to get Havertz to London in the summer. However, an early bout of COVID did little to help his adjustment to the side. Even when he was fit, he looked off the pace and was facing difficulties.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game

Much like his German teammate, Werner was another high profile signing for the Blues. His goal-scoring exploits for RB Leipzig prompted Chelsea to splash the cash on him. However, Werner struggled to replicate his form with frequent misses in front of the goal characterizing his debut season.

Nonetheless, as both players have wrapped up a good season for Chelsea, much will be expected from them next season. Former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas was optimistic that the pair would come good in the coming season.

“I watch every single Chelsea game, so I’ve followed the first seasons of the club’s two big German signings, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, very closely and I am convinced next season we will start to really see the best of them.”

Fabregas added how both players struggled in their first season but showed signs of improvement in the latter stages.

“I saw that both Werner and Havertz scored for Germany in their last warm-up game, so, hopefully, they can have a good tournament and, definitely, I think we will see different players for Chelsea next season.”

For now, the German duo need to concentrate on their EURO 2020 campaign. Germany have a testing group stage and will be hoping to go deep into the tournament. Given the form they showed in the last few months under Tuchel, it does bode well that they can up their game next season.
