According to transfer news from Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are interested in Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham. However, it is understood that they are not willing to pay the £40m being demanded by Chelsea.
Tammy Abraham is having a torrid time at Chelsea. It has become an all too familiar sight to see the academy graduate on the bench, or even out of the matchday squads in recent weeks. The striker has hardly featured over the last 3 months or so.
The England international has slipped down the pecking order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and Timo Werner. The likes of Werner and Kai Havertz have been preferred ahead of the academy graduate.
Villa, of course, are no strangers to Tammy Abraham. The Chelsea academy graduate spent the 2018-19 season at Villa Park and propelled the then Championship side to the Premier League with his goal-scoring exploits. It was that season at Villa that pushed him into the fray for a starting spot at Chelsea for the following season.
Chelsea have put up Abraham for sale as they understand he has no future at the club. However, they have also slapped a massive £40m valuation on him. Even though Aston Villa have shown interest in the English striker, they have sent a message that the price quoted for him is unrealistic.
There is obviously no shortage of suitors for Abraham as Newcastle have also shown interest along with Villa. However, it is understandable that Villa would baulk at the £40m valuation Chelsea have placed on him. Chelsea would be better served if they lower the asking price.
