Mason Mount insists Chelsea haven’t won anything yet

According to Daily Mail, Mason Mount insisted that Chelsea haven’t won anything yet after the win over Real Madrid. The Blues set up an all English final in the Champions League after they managed to see off Real Madrid over two legs in the semi-finals.

It almost felt like Chelsea kept Real Madrid at an arm’s length through the entire 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge. A first-half goal from Timo Werner gave Chelsea the lead and Mason Mount put the tie beyond all doubt with his goal in the second half.

The 3-1 aggregate win made sure Chelsea are back in the final after nine years. They will face Manchester City in the final at the end of May in what promises to be a cracking affair. While plaudits were being given to Chelsea, Mason Mount tried to not get ahead and insisted that Chelsea haven’t yet won anything.

‘We gave everything and we had that desire to win first half. We had a couple of opportunities where we won the ball and should’ve scored but we got the one late on and it’s great. We haven’t won nothing yet. Hopefully we’ve got two massive cup finals and hopefully we can win. We’ve got them on Saturday. We’ve played three times already this season, so it will be a stunning game.’

Mason Mount does have a point in what he is saying. However, there should still be a cause for celebration given how long Chelsea have waited for this. They have faltered at various stages in the Champions League since 2012 and now they are back to the summit and close to finishing the job.
