John Terry issues Jonny Evans warning to Chelsea ahead of FA Cup final vs Leicester

According to the Express, former Chelsea captain and club legend John Terry has issued a warning to the team over ‘underrated’ Leicester City star Jonny Evans ahead of the FA Cup final.

Chelsea face off against Leicester City in the final of the 2020/21 FA Cup later tonight on Saturday at the Wembley Stadium. The Blues made it to the showpiece event after defeating Manchester City in the semi-final while Leicester City beat Southampton in the penultimate stage of the competition.

The last time we met Leicester City in the Premier League was in January earlier this year, with the game ending in a 2-0 win for the Foxes. However, the team has come a long way from that point, with Thomas Tuchel replacing Frank Lampard and turning us into a top side again.

Jonny Evans is a key player for Leicester City

Heading into the game, Chelsea have been issued a warning by Terry, who in a recent post on social media heaped praise on Leicester defender Jonny Evans. The ex-Chelsea captain praised the Foxes’ centre-half, writing:

“How good is Jonny Evans? The most underrated defender in the Premier League.”

Evans has not played for Leicester in their last two games due to a foot injury. However, manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that the Northern Irishman will be available for selection for the game.

“We’re giving him another day, he has progressed really well in the last 24 hours. We’ll see what the reaction is after that and make the final decision on Friday. We are still very positive he is going to play. In my time at the club he has been immense. If he’s not available it’ll be a big loss. It will just be [down to] a discussion between myself and Jonny.”

Evans, should he not be available for selection, could prove to be a boost for us. Having reached the finals of the FA Cup last season only to come up short against Arsenal, let’s hope things end differently for us tonight.
