According to transfer news from Express, Chelsea have three alternative strikers lined up if they cannot manage to sign Romelu Lukaku. Erling Haaland, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane are still some of the options being kept as contingency plans after Romelu Lukaku’s recent statements that were a huge blow to Chelsea’s pursuit of signing the player.
It’s no secret that Chelsea are after a striker for next season. Their current options have hardly proven effective. Timo Werner looks like an expensive flop by each passing week, Tammy Abraham could be sold and Olivier Giroud is also considering his future at the club. Only Kai Havertz has performed decently in a false-nine role.
Chelsea were after Lukaku for a while now with the Blues keen on a reunion with their former striker. However, they were rebuffed with Lukaku’s claims that he wants to remain at Inter Milan after winning the Serie A with them.
Nonetheless, Chelsea still have a few more strikers kept in the backburner after they received a blow in their pursuit for Lukaku. The first name is that of Erling Haaland. The Borussia Dortmund sensation has been on the radar of Chelsea for a few months now as a move is being mooted for the summer.
The next one is Sergio Aguero. The Manchester City legend will leave the club at the end of the season on a free transfer and Chelsea have been among the clubs to keep tabs on the situation. Lastly, a name that might be a bit surprising, Harry Kane. The Spurs forward has often spoken of his desire to win trophies and exit talks have been rampant this season.
It remains to be seen who Chelsea end up signing. The club do need a striker to ease their attacking problems. While not a lot of these options are realistic to pursue, one can’t say if Chelsea do push ahead and manage to get one of the aforementioned players.
