Kai Havertz shuts down reporter questioning transfer fee after match-winning Champions League goal

Talking to BT Sport (h/t Metro) after scoring the goal to win the Champions League final for Chelsea, Kai Havertz dropped two F-Bombs as the reporter asked him about his transfer fee.

The Blues paid a fortune to get the Bayer Leverkusen youngster to London in the summer. It was Frank Lampard who oversaw the record £89m move, and since then, things haven’t been easy for the German.

He had a slow start to life in the Premier League. And before this Saturday, the 21-year-old attacking midfielder was yet to score in the Champions League goal for the club.

Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the UEFA Champions League final to win Chelsea the UEFA Champions League final against Manchester City.

However, it was Havertz who rounded off Ederson in the 42nd minute to put Chelsea in front. As it turned out, that was the only goal of the match as Thomas Tuchel saw his side lift the Champions League trophy.

Havertz can’t control his emotions

As with any expensive player, Havertz’s transfer fee was questioned whenever he had a bad patch of form. But after the final, he said he did not give a **** about that because he had just won the biggest trophy in European club football.

“To be honest, right now, I don’t give a f*** on that! [transfer fee] We won the f***ing Champions League! I mean, we just celebrate now.”

Pitch-side reporter Des Kelly apologized to the viewers for Havertz’s expletives but understood that the emotions were running high. Talking about scoring the winning goal in a UCL final, Havertz stated it was 15 years in the making.

More Chelsea News:

“I really don’t know what to say. I waited a long time. Now I want to thank my family, my parents, my grandmother and my girlfriend. I don’t know what to say. I’ve waited 15 years for this moment and now it’s here.”

It was a special occasion for the player, who has had to face a lot of stick during his debut season with the Blues. What an occasion to score his first-ever Champions League and silence all the critics!
