Ben Chilwell opens up on working under Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel

Speaking to the club’s official website, Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has detailed how it is to work under manager Thomas Tuchel, who can be ‘very, very demanding’.

Tuchel took over the reins at Chelsea in January earlier this year following the sacking of club legend Frank Lampard. In a short time at the bridge, the German tactician has turned the team into one of the best in Europe, as we have reached the finals of the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup beating Real Madrid and Manchester City in the semi-finals respectively.

Tuchel has managed to pick up wins over the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola, Zinedine Zidane, Carlo Ancelotti in his short stint as manager of Chelsea. And, naturally he has earned a lot of plaudits for the work that he has done, with his tactical nous and detail-oriented nature being hailed.

Tuchel has done brilliantly since replacing Lampard at Chelsea

Chilwell, speaking to the club’s official website, has given a sneak peek of what Tuchel is like behind the curtains, claiming that the German tactician can be ‘very, very demanding’.

“He’s a very, very demanding manager which is what you want. He pushes us every day. If you’re not on it he will tell you and if you are doing well he will give you the confidence. When you have a manager that you know will tell you the truth it’s what you want, because you know where you need to improve, you know what you’re doing well.”

The England international, who joined Chelsea only last summer from Leicester City, also insisted that the training sessions are very intense, which keeps the squad fit, fresh and ready heading into matches.

There is no denying the impact that Tuchel’s arrival has had on our season. When Lampard left the club was languishing in the ninth place in the league table, with a top-four finish almost an afterthought. Now, Chelsea are the frontrunners to seal the final Champions League qualifying position while also standing a chance to win two trophies.
