According to transfer news from Birmingham Live, Tammy Abraham is open to an exit from Chelsea with Aston Villa open to his signing. Abraham’s future has been up for speculation after being overlooked by Thomas Tuchel in recent weeks.
Abraham broke into the first-team last season under Frank Lampard and was a vital part of the side that finished fourth. With a transfer ban last season, Abraham made full use of the opportunities handed to him and went on to score 15 goals.
However, the England international has slipped down the order after the arrival of Thomas Tuchel and Timo Werner. The likes of Werner, Kai Havertz and Olivier Giroud have been preferred ahead of the academy graduate.
Villa, of course, are no strangers to Tammy Abraham. The Chelsea academy graduate spent the 2018-19 season at Villa Park and propelled the then Championship side to the Premier League with his goal-scoring exploits.
It was that season at Villa that pushed him into the fray for a starting spot at Chelsea for the following season.
With Abraham being constantly overlooked for the starting XI and substitute appearances, one can’t help but think Tammy’s future lies away from Stamford Bridge.
Tuchel looks happy with Kai Havertz as a false nine and that does not bode well for the strikers at the club including Tammy.
Tammy Abraham has been unlucky, to say the least, and deserves to be given an opportunity to prove himself. Given that Werner has misfired this season, Tuchel would do well to try out Tammy Abraham up front as he has shown his quality so far.
