According to news from Evening Standard, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has been named as the best player in the Premier League. The list was made by CIES Football Observatory and on top was Lionel Messi followed by Robert Lewandowski.
Among the Premier League players, Jorginho came out on top. Other Premier League stars such as Ruben Dias, Wilfred Ndidi, Luke Shaw and Harry Kane are among some of the top stars in the league.
CIES have taken the robustness factor into account and used the data for each player’s last 1000 minutes of game time. Only Europe’s top five leagues can be found on this list. There were some notable surprises though, in the form of Jorginho placing above Cristiano Ronaldo in the list.
The 29-year-old moved to Chelsea in 2018 along with manager Maurizio Sarri. Jorginho struggled in his first season as he looked a bit slow for the fast-paced nature of the Premier League. His form has improved over the last season and he was one of Frank Lampard’s most trusted players.
Now under Thomas Tuchel, he is still one of the vital players of the squad, adjusting well to the new manager.
However, there have been exit talks, with the player seemingly disliking the weather and missing Naples. While nothing has happened yet, these comments could lead to an exit from the club in the future.
