According to Italian journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Christian Pulisic is “is still fighting for Chelsea” despite being linked to several top clubs.
Earlier this month, the American winger was linked with Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Manchester United. However, Romano has now stated that interest from such clubs is natural for a talent like Pulisic.
And he adds that nothing is decided yet, with the final call being taken in once the current season ends. This is certainly good news for Chelsea fans as Pulisic is one of the brightest talents in England.
Pulisic doesn’t seem to be favoured by Thomas Tuchel, however. The former Borussia Dortmund sensation has started just 1 Premier League since the German manager took over from Frank Lampard in January.
And thus, the transfer links would make sense considering the 22-year-old is not getting gametime. One report linked him with a move to Bayern with Kingsley Coman making the move to Stamford Bridge.
But that has been shot down as well by BILD journalist, Christian Falk. He quoted Romano’s tweet to give it his stamp of approval and added that a swap deal with Coman is not in place.
Pulisic is a winger by trade, a position not really utilized in Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 formation. Instead of wingers, the formation, at least on paper, deploys full-backs in attacking areas on the flank.
The American was, in comparison, highly favoured by Englishman Frank Lampard, despite reports of the former Chelsea manager once supposedly undermining Pulisic’s abilities because he was from the United States.
Nevertheless, it is certainly good to hear that Pulisic will fight for a place at the club. A player of his calibre leaving, and probably strengthening a direct rival, would be detrimental to the Blues.
