In the latest news, the agent of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has hinted that the Frenchman could extend his loan spell at Napoli. (h/t Goal.com)
Bakayoko arrived at Chelsea from French club AS Monaco in the summer of 2017. However, after enduring a difficult first season in England, the midfielder joined AC Milan on loan for the 2018/19 term.
Bakayoko then spent the 2019/20 campaign on a temporary spell back at his former club AS Monaco. The last summer transfer window saw the French international return to Italy, this time signing for Napoli on a season-long loan deal.
Even though Napoli have had their ups and downs this term, Bakayoko has emerged with positive credit for his performances.
And, now, his brother and agent Abdoulaye Bakayoko has claimed that the midfielder could continue in Naples next term. He also added that the midfielder’s future wasn’t entwined with that of manager Gennaro Gattuso, who could be on his way out of the club at the end of the season.
“His future is not tied to that of the coach. There is a strong bond with the coach, but when the talks take place with the club to stay at Napoli, we’ll see.
“The focus right now is to see out the season in the best possible way. There are no talks planned with the club to discuss it. Whether he remains at Napoli or not, that will not depend on Gattuso. He is happy here, it’s a big club with a great history.”
Bakayoko still has a little over a year left on his contract with Chelsea. Cashing in on him in the summer would be the best possible solution for all parties involved.
