Diego Simeone confirms team news ahead of Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid

According to Football.london, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone confirmed as a part of team news that Luis Suarez and Joao Felix will start against Chelsea. Atletico Madrid are 0-1 down going into the second leg on Wednesday night.

However, it does not get any easier for the Rojiblancos with Chelsea in robust form. They are yet to lose in 12 games under Thomas Tuchel, winning 8 of them. Chelsea are ahead by a goal, courtesy of Olivier Giroud.

Atleti aren’t in the best of touch, with just two wins in their last five. Nonetheless, Diego Simeone confirmed some team news regarding the upcoming second leg.

“Joao is going to play from the beginning. Probably tomorrow is the right day for Luis Suarez to end the streak that you are talking about [goalless away from home in Europe]. Why not? Tomorrow could be a beautiful day.

“We will play with both of them to see which one is better for us to be able to win from any minute. The goal is to improve our situation from the first leg. We don’t know how they will approach it, but I know what we want from the match, which is to win it.”

With both of these star forwards set to start, Chelsea will have to be on their toes. Suarez is still one of the sharpest strikers in Europe despite his advancing years. Felix on the other hand one of the best upcoming talents in the game.

More Chelsea News

There should be optimism from Chelsea in the sense that we have conceded just twice in 12 games, one of them being an own goal. With the advantage of a goal, all Chelsea need is one more clean sheet. It is obviously easier said than done but Tuchel’s record does give some confidence.
