Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger outlines the difference between Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger has opened up on the differences in tactics between Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard.

The German defender was largely underused by the latter this season. However, Tuchel’s arrival has seen him return to the first-team fold.

Chelsea returns to Premier League action later tonight against Newcastle United. The Blues have won four of their last five matches and will look to keep that streak going.

Rudiger believes Tuchel has a clear system of play that he is keen to implement at Chelsea. Thankfully, it would appear that the players have reacted to it and are adapting well.

“I think the coach knows what he wants. He has a way of playing football and you can see from the games, the players have adapted very quickly to that.”

The German defender also believes that the club as a whole has defended better this season. While Lampard may have laid the seeds for just that, Tuchel could yet be the one to reap its benefits.

Unlike Lamaprd Thomas Tuchel does not employ a high press at Chelsea

Unlike his predecessor, the 47-year-old, however, has a different tactic at winning back possession. Rudiger has gone on to state that Tuchel does not employ a high press like Lampard.

“The coach has a different idea, which is to keep the opponents up in their own half and try to win the ball back there rather than winning it further down in our half.”

Nicknamed the professor, Tuchel is an ardent student of the game. His tactical nous makes him an extremely competent manager and Chelsea will hope he fulfills his potential at Stamford Bridge.
