Chelsea to set up summer battle with Manchester United over Jadon Sancho

According to Sport1 (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea are prepared to compete with Manchester United for the signature of Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer.

It has been revealed that Dortmund are prepared to slash their asking price for the 20-year-old to balance their books. That has put both Premier League heavyweights on red alert heading into the upcoming window.

Sancho has long been linked with a return to English football with Man United rated as the prime contenders for the youngster. While United will once again be in pole position to sign the attacker next summer, Chelsea are prepared to outbid their rivals.

As per the report, new Blues boss Thomas Tuchel would like to lure Sancho to Stamford Bridge from his former club Dortmund. With the Bundesliga outfit now looking at the possibility of cashing in on the player, Chelsea are prepared to push hard for his signature.

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the best young footballing talents on the planet over the past couple of seasons. Sancho bagged an astonishing 20 goals and 20 assists in 44 games across all competitions last term to guide Dortmund to a runners-up finish behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

And the England international has continued in his merry way at Signal Iduna Park this season. Sancho hasn’t quite been able to emulate his lofty standards from the previous campaign but has still managed a handsome tally of 8 goals and 13 assists in 26 appearances.

Roman Abramovich’s spending spree saw the likes of Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz come through the door as marquee signings this past summer. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea would be prepared to splash the cash once again at the end of the season to aid Tuchel’s project.
