Chelsea stars Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante open up on their special relationship

Speaking to the club’s official site, Chelsea stars Olivier Giroud and N’Golo Kante have opened up on the special relationship they share.

Both players have been comrades in arms at both club and national levels. They were part of the French side that won the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The duo isn’t just close on the pitch but also off it. The close friends were once again at it in our away victory over Sevilla. Kante’s cross was converted by Giroud who scored an impessive four goals that night.

Kante is under no doubt regarding Giroud’s importance to Frank Lampard’s side. Having won the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League together for the Blues, Kante has seen first hand the impact Giroud has on the pitch.

“Olivier is very important to us because of his experience, his talent and the striker he is.”

The 29-year-old has praised Giroud’s ability to score important goals. He went on to attribute the striker’s sincerity in training and how hard he works to add positive energy to the team.

“He always gives his best and it’s positive for all the team to see a player like this, staying positive and giving 100 percent in training and games.”

Kante and Giroud are also good friends off the field

Giroud, too, had kind words to say about Kante. Despite being a quiet figure, Kante is considered to be a leader who lets his actions speak the loudest.

“He is a leader by how he acts and not how he talks.”

Giroud also went on to add that Kante has acquired a cult following back home in France. A humble player who always has a smile on his face, Kante is clearly a well-liked figure.

“He is always smiling and people love him because he is humble and simple.”

Both players have been instrumental for Chelsea’s success

While Giroud and Kante remain teammates on the pitch, they are opponents off it. Especially when you put a chessboard or a scrabble board between them.

Both competitive players, Giroud holds the edge when it comes to scrabble while Kante is the real deal at chess.
