Lampard not getting ahead of himself regarding Chelsea’s Champions League prospects

Lampard not concerned about potential opponents in the UCL last 16

According to the club’s official site, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has opened up on the club’s UCL knockout stage fixtures.

The Blues moved into the last 16 of Europe’s premier competition as group winners. It displayed an excellent representation of the club’s progress over the last one year.

Lampard has urged against overanalysing the group stage results. The draw against Krasnodar ends the first stage of our European campaign but there is still much to come.

“We don’t have to over-analyse the group stage.”

Rather than worry about who we will face or the other teams in the fray, Lampard is keen to maintain his focus on Chelsea.

“We have to concentrate on ourselves and at the moment we’ve won the group well and won it before tonight, which isn’t always the case.”

He believes the club has shown good progress and players should confidence from what they have achieved. That should hold us in good stead regardless of who we face next.

A lot can change in football in the blink of an eye. With the next round of fixtures only in February, there is time for much to change.

Lampard appears keen to tackle what is in front of him rather than worry about what could or could not be in three months time.

“Everything will change by February so I don’t think it’s worth jumping too much into the future other than being very happy with our path through this group.”
