David Beckham wants this out-of-favour Chelsea star at Inter Miami

David Beckham wants Olivier Giroud at Inter Miami

A report by El Futbolero (h/t Football.london) claims that David Beckham is keen on bringing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud to Inter Miami.

David Beckham is a part-owner of the Miami based club that plays in the MLS. Olivier Giroud has had just 47 minutes of Premier League action this season.

The goal-scoring touch of new signing Timo Werner and England international Tammy Abraham is keeping the Frenchman on the fringes of first-team football as he been reduced to the Blues’ third-choice striker.

The report also claims that David Beckham would buy Giroud a mansion in the poshest area of Miami if the ex-Arsenal star agrees to join the MLS side. (h/t Football.london)

The 24-year-old has been used as a ‘super-sub’ in recent times, with his 31 of his last 50 Premier League appearances being from the bench.

Giroud signed a contract extension at the club in the closing stages of last season but has not started a single Premier League for the team this season.

Chelsea sit 3rd in the Premier League after the 0-0 draw against league leaders Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday where Giroud came on for Englishman Tammy Abraham in the last 11 minutes of the match.

Frank Lampard seems to have taken a liking of the Abraham-Werner duo. The two have scored a combined 11 goals in all competitions this season and continue to be Lampard’s go-to men up front.

Giroud joined the Blues from Arsenal in January 2018 and signed a contract extension in May 2020 which runs until June 30, 2021.

The Frenchman would be hoping that his last-minute winner against Stade Rennais last week would be enough to get him some minutes against Sevilla on matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League.

The Blues are already through to the knockout round but a win for Chelsea will confirm progression as Group E winners.
