Frank Lampard reiterates faith in Chelsea star Kurt Zouma

According to Football.london, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has lavished praise on defensive star Kurt Zouma.

The Frenchman has formed a solid defensive partnership with summer signing Thiago Silva. The duo has since ensured that the Blues rearguard has kept its wits this season.

“He has been playing really well this season.”

Zouma’s performances will have come as no surprise for Lampard. The Chelsea boss had high hopes for the defender since taking over at the club in 2019.

A beast in the air, Zouma won countless headers in the 3-1 win over Leeds United. He also netted his fourth goal of the league campaign.

Impressively, that has seen him match the same amount of goals that he had netted in all of his league matches before. He has now developed into a player who is a threat at both ends of the pitch.

Lampard has touted confidence as a major aspect of the 26-year-old’s improved performances.

“That is just him going up with more confidence, more belief in himself. He has always had size and spring, but now you see him on all parts of the pitch aerially he is a real threat and doing his job.”

Lampard appears to have had faith in Zouma’s ability for some time now. Seeing him establish himself as a key player for us this season vindicates Lampard’s faith in him.

“He has got a lot of great attributes as a centre-back, I knew that and it’s why I have been so positive when I came here that a player like Kurt would be a big deal for me.”
