Boost for Chelsea as key attacking duo is set to return ahead of festive schedule

Lampard provides positive update on Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi

According to The Evening Standard, Chelsea stars Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson Odoi are expected to be back in time for our busy Christmas and New Year schedule.

The news was revealed by Frank Lampard after the Blues drew 1-1 with Krasnodar in the UEFA Champions League last night. With top spot in the group already wrapped up, the game was a dead rubber.

“I think that’s positive. Particularly with Hakim it’s positive.”

Ziyech was forced off in our 3-1 win over Leeds Untied at the weekend. The prospect of his quick return is a boon as we look to navigate a busy schedule.

Both Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi are suffering from hamstring injuries. The duo is expected to be back in the fray in two weeks.

The players had their scans yesterday and thankfully, it does not appear as if either of them has suffered a serious setback.

“Both players are hopefully going to be out for around two weeks. They had scans yesterday and their injuries are showing that they will be about two weeks.”

Wih both players set for a return, Chelsea can mix and match their lineups during the festive schedule. Rest comes at a premium during this time in the Premier League and we could do with all the help we can get.

Hudson-Odoi’s results will also have come as a positive given the lack of clarity surrounding his situation. The youngster sustained the setback in training.

“With Callum we didn’t know what to expect. It was an injury he got in training a couple of days ago.”
