The voting was open to the public on Chelsea’s official website and the 5th stand application.

Callum Hudson-Odoi’s goal against Stade Rennais in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League group stage match in France won the award after securing 28% of the votes.

The goal featured a sumptuous pass from Mason Mount. The former Derby County midfielder found Hudson Odoi’s well-timed run with an aerial ball and set him free on goal.

The 20-year-old winger showed great composure to tuck the ball in the net as Rennes’ goalkeeper came rushing out to thwart him.

Hudson-Odoi’s goal opened the scoring that day for Chelsea in the 22nd minute. Rennes equalized 5 minutes from time. However, an injury-time goal from Olivier Giroud helped Chelsea secure all 3 points on the night.

Despite the dramatic late winner from the Frenchman, Hudson-Odoi’s finish grabbed the headlines. It was a textbook counter-attacking goal which highlighted some of his greatest strengths.

Hudson-Odoi’s goal beat Jude Soonsup-Bell, whose goal against Barnsley U18s got the second-highest number of votes, at 20 per cent.

Pernille Harder, Chelsea Women’s new signing, came third in the list. Her goal against Everton Women got 16 per cent of the votes.

The award is a great tangible recognition for Callum Hudson-Odoi’s efforts this season. The young Englishman has made 12 appearances for the Blues so far.
