Inter Milan keen on Chelsea ace Olivier Giroud

According to Italian publication Calciomercato via Sportwitness (h/t Football.london), Inter Milan are keen on Chelsea ace Olivier Giroud.

It is not the first time that the Nerazzurri have been linked with the French international. In fact, they have been chasing his signature since the last two transfer windows. (h/t Football.london)

Despite not being able to agree on a deal, Inter do not appear to have given up hope. They could return for Giroud once again in January. (h/t Football.london)

Inter Miilan are interested in Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud

Giroud started off the previous season as the third-choice striker behind Tammy Abraham and Michy Basthuayi. However, injuries and a loss in form saw him propelled get to the front of the line after the new year.

To his credit, the 34-year-old took the chance with both hands. He played a key role as we made the top four and also qualified for the FA Cup final.

The good run of form saw him rewarded with a one-year extension. However, with Chelsea signing Timo Werner and Abraham returning to fitness, Giroud has once again fallen down the pecking order.

He has so far made just six appearances scoring one goal this season. Of these, just one of them has come from the start. (h/t Transfermarkt)

An appealing prospect!

With just months left on his contract, Inter see him as a low-cost option. Despite being 34, the Frenchman packs a punch and could thrive in the slower-paced game in Italy. (h/t Football.london)

With the European Championships coming up next summer, Giroud is concerned about his spot in the France squad. This has led to him consider a move away from Chelsea once the January transfer window opens. (h/t Football.london)

Given his peripheral role at the club, it would be better for us to sell him in January. With the prospect of us losing him on a free in the summer a possibility, a January sale also makes financial sense.
