According to The Metro, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has given an update on the status of Christian Pulisic.
The 22-year-old looked set to start against Burnley at Turf Moor yesterday., However, an injury sustained in the prematch warm-up saw him get replaced by Timo Werner.
Lampard has now confirmed that the American international has once again injured his hamstring.
Replays of the incident showed Pulisic slipping on the turf during a pre-match passing exercise. Although he initially appeared fine, Pulisic got back to his feet and proceeded to storm off the pitch.
“Yes, he felt a little something in his hamstring.”
Lampard has hinted that the injury may not be as serious as before. Pulisic has looked lively since his return.
“He’s played three games, we’ve tried to manage him in the week and it’s a small feeling in his hamstring so we’ll have to see how he is over the next 24 hours.”
It is particularly frustrating as Pulisic had just returned from a hamstring injury sustained last season. He was taken off in the FA Cup final after giving Chelsea the lead.
“He’s frustrated because he’s worked so hard to get fit.”
His departure turned the tie on its head and Arsenal were able to overpower us. Hopefully, with a better squad now available, we can deal with Pulisic’s absence more efficiently.
Injuries have been a constant bane for Pulisic. Since joining the club in 2019, he has missed 22 games owing to injury setbacks.
Hopefully, he will not have to add to that tally by much this time around.
